I can not get yahoo mail on my iPad or iPhone. Keeps saying the server is unavailable. How to fix?

I can get email through the Internet, just not using the mail icon. I’ve restarted the devices, changed the password tried changing JavaScript Any ideas? Called yahoo and apple. Apple says others are complaining as well, but no idea why. Yahoo didn’t help either.

  1. From what I gather, Yahoo Mail is having a ton of issues leaving people unable to even open their mail account. Mine will open for a second and then go right to an error message. This has been going on since yesterday morning and still going on today.. Don’t bother calling Yahoo because they just disconnect you with no help.

    Try this link: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/ya…

I am really getting ticked off, personally. Let me know if you find a fix.

  2. Close the mail app on the iphone and go to a computer, sign in to your yahoo mail account and do the verification that it pops up. If there is no such thing that pops up then go back to your iphone and do the following:

1.) Delete the yahoo mail account on your iphone.
2.) Add mail account using “other” instead of “Yahoo!” and setup as IMAP account.
    3.) Use the following information:
    – username MUST include @yahoo.com at the end
    – incoming server = imap.mail.yahoo.com
    – outgoing server = smtp.mail.yahoo.com
    – always retype your password

Tell me if this solution works or doesn’t work. It worked on my girlfriend’s iphone4 after 16 hours of reading online and messing with it and a lot of restoring.

  3. I just go my iPad 3 in for a Xmas gift today and had same problem in setting up yahoo mail account, ‘server unavailable’. Your help and suggestion is very much appreciated. It works perfectly fine now 🙂

  4. Thank you, thank you!
After 2 evenings of trying to get my Yahoo mail setup on my new iPad, this worked like a charm!
So simple but no other website mentioned logging into mail from your computer to verify. As soon as I did that, everything worked perfectly!

  5. Thank you so much, I've spent 2 days trying to fix this and your with your directions it was fixed in 5 minutes. Thanks for the post.

  6. Thank-You! It worked like a charm. Been dealing with this email issue for a week and no one seems to know how to fix it. By the way I have an iPhone 4 that works off of the straight talk service just in case anyone would like to know 🙂 Woot! Thanks James, finally someone with a working brain.

  7. Hi,
I tried this on my son’s email (@ymail.com suffix) and it still doesn’t work. It works fine for my @yahoo.com address though. Any ideas?

  8. I am not able to open my mails on my iPhone or iPad . It keeps showing connecting & the number of mails I’ve recieved
But doesn’t show in the inbox.

  9. hi guys. 10. I deleted my yahoo account and followed the directions of setting up my email on other and followed instructions. I still am not getting email and all of my past email disappeared. Now what do I do?

  11. I have the same problem as well when I try to reset a password and send it to my phone it says “Server Conection Lost”and i tried looking at the apple website it says nothing about it and I am frustrated because of it the reason why is because I cant do anything without knowing a password

  12. James, I tried it and it didnt work. It still says that I cant log in. Is there any other way I can do it? I’ve tried calling customer service but they keep telling my I have the password wrong or that my internet connection isnt working.
This happened for about a week now and its getting on my nerves.
Yahoo needs to get a better service plan because someday, they are going to get sued probably.
