As long as you’re not getting program compatibility issues and you don’t feel like switching at all, you should be fine. But keep in mind that XP is still far less secure, stable and compatible than Windows 7. You can keep XP until 2014 because that’s when all the support ends. Nobody recommends you using XP from that date on, so that might be the point to switch to Windows 8 or another yet to come OS.
I’m still on XP with is minimum Microsoft support. It is more stable than Vista as an op system. The big thing is that if your system is not chock full of RAM and hard drive and a fast enough CPU, I do believe that the many operating processes would slow an older system to a crawl. When I pick up a new laptop this year sometime, it will have the latest Windows 7. You can check the Microsoft web site for what features Windows 7 has, and if you don’t have them now, that’s what you get.
For basic internet and spread sheets and admin kinds of things, I don’t think it matters that much.
Actually yes and no I just upgraded from Xp to 7 last month, 7 is much better than XP, in visuals and Graphics and browsing your files is much easier, personalizing anything is much easier and let me tell u as a previous windows XP user (no offense) i would never return to it after i tried 7 (Home Premium) but windows 7 uses more RAM than XP so if your RAM is less than 2 GB u should defiantly stick to XP and just a little friendly advice NEVER ever ever ever Upgrade to Vista it is very very slow on most Computers and Crashes a lot so if u are thinking about upgrading get Windows 7 Home Premium or Professional or Ultimate dont go for Basic it is ……… really Basic
