    With the recent advances in open heart surgeries, the mortality rate is falling. Chances of his survival are high

    It is nice that you are worried about your brother.

    From what you describe, he has probably had this for some time. He will be fine. They have been doing this surgery for well over 40 years. He will be sore and will probably have some tubes here and there when he comes from surgery, but his chance of survival is very, very high.
