A friend bought a pc with windows xp installed but did not receive any installation disks. She has since asked them for one but they say they do not provide them and if something went wrong with her pc she would have to return it for them to ghost it! Why did she not receive the disk – is this not what she paid for when buying the computer in the first place?
I do not have a windows xp setup disk as it was installed by the manufacturer at the time of purchase. However I can read the product key from the label on the cpu

Okay so when I bought my dell laptop a few years ago I got a Windows XP disc with it, my question is can you use that disc to clean install onto a brand new custom built machine? Then as I am at high school get Windows 7 pro upgrade for £30 and use that to make the machine go to Windows 7? Or is that too ambitious and xp wouldn’t install/ be upgradable?
